It’s the start of a new year…. Are you prepared for 2023?

Well 2022 was another big year of change and uncertainty for many businesses, employees and life in general wasn’t it!

We saw the downgrading of the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes this has meant for some business sectors but not others, a change in government, the adjustment from working at home to returning to the workplace and the relaxation of how we move about and interact with others in our communities, just to name a few.

So have you planned for a happy and productive return to work for your employees and your business in 2023?  If not, why not!

First up, the end of 2022 work Christmas party is now done and dusted …. How did this affect your employees?  Was it an enjoyable experience for everyone or did any issues arise that you may or may not have been made aware of?  How should you handle this?

COVID-19 is still circulating in our communities and without going overboard, businesses still need to ensure that their employees safety & wellbeing is front of mind when carrying out work activities as mandated vaccination requirements still impact some business sectors, ie health and aged care.   There is also an expectation of business to show flexibility when managing employees while they are impacted by COVID-19 and during their recovery.

Over the past 2 years working from home became the new norm for a lot of employees and now that the height of the pandemic is over many businesses want their employees to return to the workplace.  How can your business manage employees who don’t want to return to the work place?

The Federal Government introduced a number of workplace legislations that come into effect or become enforceable during the course of 2023; for example Respect@Work, Secure Jobs Better Pay,  Paid Family & Domestic Violence Leave, just to name a few.  Is your business ready to comply?

Attracting new employees and retaining existing experienced staff remains a challenge for many businesses this year.  How is your business going about attracting the best people; do you need to review your recruitment strategies?

Are you confident that your managers know how to deal with employee matters? Are your policies and procedures up to date?  Are your payroll processes compliant?  Do you need to review how your employees and your company can work efficiently in this new and challenging environment?
